Fun is such an intrinsic part of our lives. It is weaved so beautifully in the fabric called our lives, in moments that we rarely acknowledge. We prefer to give undue importance to tension in the form of anxiety or stress filled moments or people who have created such situations in our lives. We focus so much on them that a good part of our lives are spent mulling over this stress.
We are capable of making our lives better, but do we? Having fun, enjoying company, laughing together, taking pleasure in something are just few of the things that we ought to be focusing on instead. These are the things that make you alive and who you are. At our core, we all want to break free of our regimented lives, our restrictions, let go and just enjoy. I realise, the ability to have genuine fun, to just be foolish, laugh madly, to be the real you, is unfortunately a prerogative of very few people as most of them have made being serious a virtue. They hold on to the image they want to project to the outside world.
A meaningful line from a song, a swinging tune, a thoughtful gesture, a funny joke, a pat, a touch, a smile, a hug, a kiss, cool breeze caressing your face, the taste of chocolate, the pull of the waves in the beach, and the company of people with whom you can laugh, sing, be yourself with, or go down memory lane with are some of the rare moments of pleasure. It’s these moments that enable you to forget reality and perhaps even help you cope with the realities of life. Sure, there is a place and time for everything, but when it is time to take a break and laugh, why not?
