The moment they had what was needed, they packed up and disappeared within matter of minutes. When I switched on the news I saw these very same channels zooming in on the tears of chest-beating, lamenting mothers and relatives who have lost their children. Is this what they are trained and paid to do? Here I ought to also mention the very same crowd were trying to get into the frame for a shot on national tv behind these very crying mothers! I swear I even saw a man pulling out his comb to straighten his hair to look good for TV !
I believe in responsible journalism, truth has to be shown; the facts have to be crystal-clear. But I condemn sensationalising or making noise to get the TRPs up. It is obscene! It’s not what a civilised society does. We do not prey on the remains of our own. It is mind numbing. Have we become so depraved a society, so detached a human that preying on the tears and sensationalising the sorrows of our fellow passengers in this sojourn of life is just another day’s job? In the garb of reporting we have sold our souls to the devil.
Along the way somewhere we have let go of our sensitivity, now our empathy too!
It’s the kind of day that makes you want to clutch your head and look up at the skies in hope of some divine intervention.
