We all often ride this wave of self-doubt. We start off at any job bursting with confidence, raring to go and take flight with all our ideas. But somewhere we become spectators to ourselves. We look at ourselves with our own critical eyes and believe that is how others possibly perceive us. And there starts our self-doubt journey! Are we good? Are we effective? Are we adding value? Are we making a difference? Are we being liked or appreciated? We don’t realise it but these doubts have a way of forming a smokescreen between us and our goals and dreams. We stop in our tracks believing this is the end!
I shared this question with my friend – ‘I am not sure I am good anymore! I have loads of work to do!’ I lamented. He was surprised, but chose to say – ‘You ARE good!’
I persisted – ‘How would you know? It’s what I feel!’
Smilingly he said – ‘It is what you choose to feel! When you have lots to do, you gotta be good!’
And that was the truth! Simple yet powerful enough to defog my mind instantly! With that my smoky doubts disappeared. How profoundly true!
As long as we are wanted somewhere to do some work, to add value, we are making a difference and we are indeed good! And that is work in progress!
